Telenor Pakistan is a Pakistani GSM cellular service provider, and is a subsidiary of Telenor, Norway.

Telenor acquired the license for providing GSM services in Pakistan in April 2004, and had launched its services commercially in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Karachi on March 15, 2005, and expanded its services to Lahore, Faisalabad and Hyderabad on March 23, 2005. Telenor has its Corporate headquarters in Islamabad, with regional offices in Karachi and Lahore. On January 28, 2005, Telenor established its first call centre in Lahore. Telenor is the 2nd largest network of Pakistan after Mobilink.
The official opening was held in Islamabad with the Ex-President of Pakistan General Pervez Musharraf as the guest of honor and a Telenor delegation headed by CEO Telenor Jon Fredrik Baksaas along with CEO Telenor Pakistan Tore Johnsen. The inauguration call was made by Ex-President Pervez Musharaf to the Prime Minister of Norway who was visiting Australia. The present CEO of Telenor Pakistan is Lars Christian Iuel.[1]
In 2008, Telenor acquired shares of Tameer Microfinance Bank for its upcoming project related to mobile banking. They renamed it "Easypaisa" and launched the product in 2009. Telenor introduced a new scheme by making normal retailer shops as their 'merchants' who, in the first phase, will act as the spot where a person can make a transaction. At the end of October 2011, there were 14,000 easypaisa retail outlets in Pakistan serving customers (and not just Telenor subscribers) with financial services.[2] Easypaisa was also covered by CNN as the 'model to follow' in the light of mobile banking. It has also been praised by the Financial Times and Al-Jazeera TV.[3]
Telenor covers a total of coverage area in more than 3000 cities, towns and highways throughout Pakistan, making it the 2nd largest GSM service provider in Pakistan. Telenor Pakistan has more than 6,000 cell masts throughout Pakistan, making it the 2nd largest network in Pakistan. It has GPRS service and EDGE service across its network in Pakistan. Telenor has a strategic alliance with Nokia Siemens Networks for expansion in Pakistan. Telenor currently has these dialing codes, 0341, 0342, 0343, 0344, 0345, 0346 and 0347.[4]
Initially after the launch Telenor targeted small towns and rural areas of Pakistan to gain support of the people living there in sight to become the 1st Mobile Operator to cover such areas. This strategy has lead it to quickly gain customer support over the country
In October 2010, Telenor Pakistan initiated a VSAT project to provide coverage via satellite to those remote areas where conventional transmission media cannot be implemented
On 10 August 2007, Telenor Pakistan signed an agreement with Ezetop to provide mobile credit to the Diaspora across the world. Top-Up will be available in retail stores in the United States, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and online at their website.
Telenor Pakistan has received the Best Place to Work Award 2010 by Pakistan Society of Human Resources Management (PSHRM) and Engage Human Resources.[5] The award recognizes Telenor Pakistan’s open work environment, egalitarian policies, transformational learning opportunities and equal and non discriminatory benefits. The category for the Best Place to Work included companies from multiple industries such as FMCG’s, pharmaceuticals and financial services among others and not just the telecommunication sector
